The Craftsmen

Our craftsmen, selected from the best of the best across Africa, are trained in our workrooms by British and Italian master tailors.

Rahim Rawjee

Rahim Rawjee was born in South Africa and grew up in Toronto Canada, where he attended the International Academy of Merchandising and Design, acquiring formal design training. In the late 90’s, Rahim returned to South Africa and showed his first ready-to-wear collection at SA Fashion Week in 2000. The eponymous Row-G label quickly earned a reputation for trailblazing, cutting edge design and a sleek modern yet timeless take on men's attire. Soon after, whilst apprenticing on Savile Row, the world-famous street in central London, renowned for traditional men's bespoke tailoring, Rahim developed a lifelong passion for this time-honoured craft.Over the years Rahim crafted garments for movers and shakers, from bank presidents to multinational CEO's, from sports stars to heads of state, like former American President Barack Obama. Today, the world knows Rahim for his uncompromising dedication to tailoring precision, quality and a timeless yet undeniably modern aesthetic. As one of Africa's most acclaimed personal tailors, his name is synonymous with craftsmanship, bespoke experiences, innovation and yes, the best-fitting suits a man could want.Brand guru, Thebe Ikalafeng calls Row-G the “the premier luxury made-to-measure brand in Africa”, and renowned trend analyst Dion Chang has hailed Rahim as a “trailblazer in menswear”. High praise indeed, but fitting for a brand, and a man, who has left an indelible impression on the fashion landscape.

Craftsmanship

For over a decade, Row-G’s craftsmen have undergone training in a series of Master Classes facilitated by Rahim and Master Tailors from the United Kingdom. These passed-on skillsets combine traditional Savile Row craftsmanship with sublime Neapolitan techniques, enabling Row-G’s African craftsmen to produce global quality work from the in-house tailoring rooms and production facilities. Proudly made in South Africa, these impeccable, handcrafted garments uphold the fine traditions upon which Row-G was founded.

To be confirmed

Every Row-G garment – a suit, a shirt, a dinner jacket, an overcoat or a blazer – is personally crafted to fulfill any sartorial brief, predilection, taste or desire; a customised cut imbued with timeless style and brought to life with traditional tailoring and leading-edge technology. Rahim’s inspiration - from far beyond the world of fashion – is driven by exploration, evolution and a relentless dedication to mastering new techniques. This meticulous approach makes every Row-G appointment truly special, be it at the discreet Johannesburg-based VIP studio, or a one-on-one, personalised engagement that can be arranged anywhere in the world.

Craftsmanship

Appointments begin with clients selecting cloth options from an array of the world's finest mills. This is followed by a one-on-one discussion with Rahim about garment style and personalised details, after which measurements are taken. Items are meticulously created in over eight weeks, with three to four fittings taking place every two or three weeks, ensuring crafted perfection at the final fitting and handover.

The Trunk Show

The Row-G Trunk Show is a private tailoring appointment offered to the select few who truly appreciate the precision and craftsmanship involved in a personally tailored, bespoke suit. This luxury experience occurs off-site from Row-G’s headquarters in cities across the globe, a private VIP consultation where clients are afforded an hour with Rahim to ask questions, gain insights and commission customised garments.
